The Cro-Mags are a New York-based Hardcore Punk band founded by Harley Flanagan in the early 1980s. They have been widely acclaimed as an iconic band in their genre as well as a band that transcended hardcore and crossed over to metal and thrash metal in the late 80s, inspiring notable bands such as Metallica and Green Day, amongst many others.

Harley Flanagan is a BJJ Black Belt under Master Renzo Gracie and was part of the first wave of BJJ in the U.S during the early 1990s and has been training with Master Renzo Gracie since 1996, competed in Grappling and underground Mixed Martial Arts from 1999 to 2017. He has taught and still teaches at the world-famous Renzo Gracie Academy in New York City since 2010, running the kids program there as well as introducing many new students to Jiu-Jitsu for the first time.

Harley Flanagan's history has been challenging, and rough to say the least, but he chose to improve not just his life, but the lives of others by teaching kids and adults through jiu-jitsu, music, and his life experiences.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Cro-Mags’ seminal first album "Age of Quarrel" considered by many to be a historic and groundbreaking album.

Cro-Mags have inspired many extraordinary bands and individuals from Vinicius "Draculino" Magalhaes to Jocko Willink. The connection between Cro-Mags and BJJ is long and enduring.
