Epic Roll isn’t just another manufacturer. It was built by a team of passionate grapplers and YOU – our fellow Jiujiteiros who share our love for Jiu-Jitsu. Together, we’ve grown Epic Roll into a recognized lifestyle brand while building an incredible community around it. The Epic Tribe is growing every day.
Our goal was simple: create the best, most comfortable gear that we wanted to wear. As lifelong martial artists, we understand the needs of our fellow practitioners. That’s why we hand-pick the finest materials and custom-design every product to meet those needs.
We’ve crafted a range of federation-approved, ultra-light custom gis that fit just right – flaring where they need to and snug where they should be – plus what many call the most comfortable rash guards you’ll ever wear.
For us, Jiu-Jitsu is a way of life. Its core values drive everything we do.
WHO WE ARE
Epic Roll’s leadership consists of three partners:
Matt Wahlstrom – the original founder of Epic Roll – is a serial entrepreneur, former off-road racer, MMA fighter, and Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Tom DeBlass. Epic Roll was born from Matt’s passion for Jiu-Jitsu and his frustration with the gear available at the time. He set out to create the most comfortable, lightest, yet durable equipment for himself and his students. The gis and rash guards were an instant hit – first at his academy, then spreading through word-of-mouth across the BJJ community. Top athletes and prominent figures threw their support behind the brand, and from this completely organic, grassroots movement, Epic Roll emerged as a fast-rising name (and a go-to manufacturer for academies and other brands in the Jiu-Jitsu world).
The company quickly outgrew what one person could handle, so Matt brought in two of his closest friends and training partners – a rock star and a member of Jiu-Jitsu royalty.
Zoltan Bathory, founder and guitarist of the world-famous band Five Finger Death Punch, is a lifelong martial artist and an actively competing Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Mica Cipili and Royler Gracie (Gracie Humaitá Competition Team). Behind the scenes, Zoltan is a master strategist on and off the mats. In addition to steering one of the biggest bands on the planet, he has managed the careers of other platinum-selling artists, owns a record label, a management company, and several globally recognized consumer brands. He brings his unique skill set and massive worldwide platform to Epic Roll.
Heather Grace Gracie was literally born into the Jiu-Jitsu legacy as the granddaughter of Carlos Gracie Sr., one of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s founding fathers. Her extensive network is invaluable to the brand. She runs Gracie Worldwide, a management company representing athletes such as Kywan Gracie and BJJ World Champion Rayron Gracie, among others. Beyond the mats, she fights poachers as a member and advisor for VETPAW, an anti-poaching organization made up of combat veterans operating in Africa. And if you want to feel what it’s like to kick ass like Grace, jump into Call of Duty and play the operator “Ana Vega” – a character modeled after her.
